Universal Grip
Need help choosing aftermarket motorcycle footpegs. What will fit the brackets?
I have a 1982 Yamaha xj 550 Maxim. I am giving the bake a complete makeover, from a NOS fuel tank to new mirrors to component rebuilds, and pretty much going over everything.
I have stock foot pegs on there and they are awful. One of the rear pegs is broken. The grip on all of them looks every bit of 29 years old. And I have some really nice chrome handgrips and want something to kinda go with that.
I was looking at universal pegs and adapters... the only thing is, The front pegs are welded to the bracket and don't know which rear pegs would fit. I was wondering if I pop the rivet on the adapter (It is a rivet type pin) will I be able to just pop a new one in there with a new peg or is it not that simple? Or what other models footpegs would work on this bike with little or no modification?

Why Having the Correct Golf Grip is So Important
It cannot be stressed enough why having the correct golf grip is so important for us to play reasonably well in this beautiful, and sometimes frustrating, game that we love.
There are just three component parts that come together when we are preparing to take every golf shot -
- You, the player
- The golf club
- The golf ball
Between these three component parts there are two connection points -
- Where the club head connects with the ball
- Where you, the player, connects with the club - the grip
So, we can see from this that the main controlling element is physically you, the golfer, with total control over the two inanimate objects, the club and the ball - to get this perfect, you need to have the correct golf grip.
We are all looking to hit great golf shots. To achieve this, we need to make perfect contact with the ball - club face square to our target at the moment of impact. We are also looking to get the right flight path. If the launch angle is too high or low, we lose distance. If we impart any side spin on the ball, it will result in a slice or hook, and again we lose distance. The element of the swing which has the most effect on all of this, is the grip.
Nobody can teach you how to grip the club correctly, there is no perfect grip that will universally suit everyone. Your grip is a personal thing, it is unique to you. How do you find out which grip is best for you? You practise. Try a grip style that feels comfortable - and I mean really comfortable, imagine playing 18 holes with an uncomfortable grip, not only will it affect your golf, you`ll also finish with very sore fingers. I know this from experience, the first time I tried the interlocking grip I came off of the course with aching knuckles yet, oddly, I still use the same grip today, but it`s a lot less painful.
When you find a grip that's comfortable, hit some balls, lots of them. If the balls go straight and long - bingo, you may have found your perfect grip. However, if you`re lacking distance and accuracy, you may need to try another style of grip - do not despair, after some trial and error you will have found the correct golf grip for you, and apart from some tweaking here and there, your new grip will probably stay with you forever.
Enjoy your golf.
